Walk update for the Train Walk to Neston on Thursday 22nd May 2025. The Walk Leader, Margaret Kendall, has reccied the walk and sends the following information for those who plan to join in.

“Meet at Maghull station to catch the 10:03 train to Liverpool Central changing to the Wirral line to Bidston, then via Welsh railway onward to Neston where the walk begins. This is a pleasant circular walk via Ness of 8 miles,  with only 250 ft of climbing. Some of the walk is on the Wirral way, with the remaining majority being on quiet country lanes and field tracks.

If you wish to meet up at Neston Railway Station, you will need to arrive by

11.15 am. Postcode guide CH64 9SR.  

Will members please note that Neston is outside the Mersey travel train area therefore concessionary passes are not valid. It is necessary to purchase a return ticket from Heswall( the last station in the Merseytravel area) to Neston. This is only one stop. Tickets can be purchased at a cost of £2:30 return ( less with a rail card) either at your departing station or on the Welsh train.

Bus timetables and roadworks on the Wirral excluded onward travel via this transport. Complete train journey to walk start took 1hr 10 mins.”
